I remember Vera coming to us for Christmas day for over 20 years. She always enjoyed chatting to Mark about football and with me about Art and Literature. Vera would bring over some gifts for the girls but would add the proviso that they were not actually presents but a contribution to Christmas day as she didn't think people needed presents. So I would give her an unChristmas present too! I remember her trying to get me to make gravy from the turkey bones and preparing the vegetables for the meal. As everyone knows, I hate sprouts but bought them for her because she liked them. It wasn't until the last time she came for Christmas dinner that she admitted that she didn't actually like sprouts that much either and could we please not bother with them any more!! We would play games with the children and go for a walk in the afternoon before enjoying Christmas cake and each others company. Bye Vera Love Chérie
